Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The fourth edition of the Invest Belize magazine published by the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) was launched in Belize City Monday morning.
It concentrates on the tourism sector and the wealth of growth that industry has brought to Belize, and according to CEO in the Ministry of Trade and Investment Michael Singh, also speaks to the future with the recent arrival of low-cost airline Southwest Airlines of the United States.
Since it is an official government publication its cost is free and it is widely distributed. The magazine is published by McNab Publishing.
In related news, we asked Singh to comment on the state of Belize’s investment sector at the end of the second Barrow administration. Singh points out that things have been more open, professional and in his view, transparent – the establishment of a Cabinet sub-committee on Investment has helped investors access what they need to make their projects more palatable and successful.
Singh says the quality of investments – and certainly their size – has improved and brought Belize great benefits including more jobs and foreign direct investment and exchange.
But where does Belize go from here? Singh says it is time to get locals involved on the front end.
Singh has held the post of CEO in the Ministry since March of 2012 and previously was CEO in the Ministry of Tourism.
