Wednesday, November 4th 2015. BMG:There is an allegation being made that workers from several call centers in San Ignacio are not being allowed the time to go vote, as is their right according to law.
The allegations are being made by employees of the call centers. An employee of Preserva Limited says employees have been threatened by management. They claim they were told they would be fired if they leave to go to vote.
According to the allegations, the call centers aren’t allowing the employees to vote until work closes at 5:30 p.m. but polls close at 6:00. BMG has made attempts to contact the call centers in question but has been unable to get a response up to this point.
The laws of Belize are clear that all employers must allow each employee a reasonable amount of time to place their vote.
