Wednesday, November 11th, 2015. BMG: Following the People’s United Party’s (PUP) defeat in the November 4th General Elections and its former leader, Francis Fonseca stepping down from that position on November 5th, there has been a media frenzy trying to figure out who are the candidates aspiring to fill that gap in the PUP.
It has since been rumored that there are four members of that party who are interested in taking up the leadership role, namely: John Briceno who is a former leader of the party, Julius Espat who is the current deputy leader, Cordel Hyde and newly elected Area Representative Kareem Musa.
It is a known fact that Briceno, Espat nor Hyde have ever lost an election but as it relates to the finances necessary to lead the party, Briceno and Espat are estimated to have an advantage.
However, none of this has been confirmed and are just rumors at this point in time but what we do know is that anyone wanting to take up the position would have to win a convention which will probably be held early next year.
The PUP will be having a National Executive meeting today to discuss issues such as the placement of a new leader.
