Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (GREAT) of the Belize Police Department held ceremonies in Belize City today for over 400 students from eight City schools.
This program was not about math and ABC’s, but about helping them avoid the lure of the gang lifestyle. Officer in charge of community policing is Sergeant Elroy Carcamo who says they were in class for between 8 and 12 weeks and received tokens of appreciation.
The program is part of the Police’s community efforts and has been spread across the country. Topics included conflict mediation, anger management, time management and personal development and counseling issues.
