Tuesday, November 17th, 2015. BMG: A song produced by three Saint Lucian artists, entitled “1.5 to Stay Alive”, is to be featured at COP21 in Paris, France, which is a huge climate change conference that is expected to have a big impact on Global Warming this time around.
Elijah ‘Arthur’ Allain, Marley ‘Mongstar’ James and Francis ‘Leebo’ Lima, were able to record and produce the song with the support of several entities, namely: The Caribbean Climate Justice Programme, The Caribbean Youth Environment Network-Saint Lucia Chapter (CYEN) and funded by the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme United Nations Development Programme.
CYEN has developed a climate change statement that asks for a legally binding agreement to keep global temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius, above pre-industrial levels and it has also developed a website (www.change.org) for supporters of the statement to sign in agreement.
One Belizean, Carlos Fuller, will be attending COP21 as part of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre’s delegation.
