By Aaron Humes: Despite the Government’s insistence that plantation white sugar will be priced at seventy-five cents beginning only on January 1, 2016 and not before, some stores are already selling at the new price.
The Bureau of Standards under the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Protection saw it necessary to re-release a press release announcing the change on Friday. This time, it emphasized that failure to comply with the Supplies Control Price Regulations will result in imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months, a fine of one thousand dollars ($1000.00), or to both such term of imprisonment and such fine.”
If your grocer is selling at the new price, get the evidence and call the Supplies Control Unit at 822-2665.
