By Chrisbert Garcia: The body of a well-known taxi driver and Justice of the Peace from Eldridge Village, located a few miles outside of Punta Gorda (PG) town, was discovered lifeless inside his Isuzu Trooper in a secluded area called ‘360 Exile’ of that municipality earlier today.
Information received is that the man, known as ‘Sapote’ was found with multiple stab wounds and his licensed pistol was found near him at the scene. His body was transported from the area to the PG Hospital at around 2:00 this afternoon as our PG reporter witnessed the police doing standard procedure of combing the area for clues.
It is believed that Sapote was murdered late last night or sometime in the wee hours of this morning and his body was discovered by a passer-by who noticed the taxi parked in an unusual area and stopped to check.
Multiple police officers and forensic personnel are still on the scene but no suspect or motive for this rare murder in PG has been identified. Belize Media Group will continue to follow this story and bring you more details as they become available.
