By Dalila Ical: The Rotaract Club of San Ignacio held another successful toy drive over the weekend.
Rotaract Public Relations Director, Brendon Godoy says this is the third year the drive was held and they were able to reach out to 200 children in the San Ignacio/Santa Elena communities, with who they played games and shared gifts with. The drive was held on December 19th.
Godoy says they work in collaboration with schools in identifying needy children and their members also scout the communities to find families that may not have made it to the list. The Rotaract Club of San Ignacio has sixteen members, between the ages of 18 to 30, who volunteer time and energy to the various projects and programs under the group.
Another program focused on children is one being conducted in the Yalbac and La Gracia communities where the club issues school supplies and helps students with their tuition. Members received sponsors for these programs but Godoy says they work hard to raise most of the funds.
