By Chrisbert Garcia: Amidst the celebration on Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning, violence erupted outside a nightclub in Punta Gorda (PG) when a man was stabbed multiple times and had to be transported to the PG Hospital emergency room for treatment.
Reports are that sometime around 2:00 a.m. on Christmas day, while outside Sports Bar Night Club, a young man known as “Shaka” was approached by as much as five other men who physically assaulted him and inflicted stab wounds to various parts of his body.
The injured man tried to defend himself from his attackers and managed to run up the street, but collapsed about 10 yards away from the club, in front of the Central Park. A Good Samaritan in a passing pickup truck, stopped and transported Shaka, whose real name is Robert, to the hospital.
Since the incident unfolded in front of multiple witnesses, it should have been easy for police to identify and arrest the culprits but it is unclear if anyone has been detained as yet. Attempts were made to get an official report from the PG Police but like in most cases, that was unsuccessful.
