Aaron Humes Reporting: Young Elite rider Joel Borland of Team Digicell crossed the line alone in the Old Capital to win the KREM New Year’s Cycling Classic in three hours, fifty-three minutes and forty-two seconds.
Gregory Lovell claimed second place Byron Pope over with Justin Williams in fourth.
In the junior male division, the race was dominated by eventual winner, Ernest Bradley of Team Smart, son of the late Ernest Jawmeighan Meighan, a former KREM Classic and Cross Country champion who was murdered last August.
Meanwhile, in the female category, Alicia Thompson defended her title, with former champion Kaya Cattouse placing second and Patricia Chavarria third. Both the junior and female classics ended in a sprint finish.
