By Aaron Humes: Red Ice, that’s the name that the Rural Eastern Division of the Belize Police Department is giving to its new communications network. That system is augmented by newly acquired communication equipment.
A donation was made by the Princess Ramada Hotel this afternoon in Belize City. On hand was the general coordinator of the Princess Group in Central America, Necip Karayusuf, who said they are happy to be regular supporters of the Department due to their important role in society.
Officer Commanding Eastern Division Rural, Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster, indicated that this will ensure easy exchange of information across the wide-spread division.
Broaster says they have been in dialogue with Belize Telemedia Limited for the phones and tablets to be data enabled.
The donation is valued at 13 thousand 5 hundred dollars.
In related news, the Belize Eastern Division Rural will also be launching shortly an education program called “Red Tag Gardens.” According to Broaster, it is all about transforming all generations, generating alternative resources and developing edible nutritional standards.
