murder scene of american touristBy Chrisbert Garcia: A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 39-year-old American national, Anne Elizabeth McComb, determined that she died of asphyxia by compression of the neck (manual strangulation), as well as blunt force traumatic injuries to the head and neck region.

McComb’s body was found floating in the Mopan River yesterday near Nabitunich Resort where she was staying and was reported missing on Thursday evening by its owner who became concerned after she didn’t return from an area down the horse trail for several hours.

The owner then notified the police after visiting the area and noticing McComb’s belongings left suspiciously unattended on a deck and an initial search of the area with canine units yielded no clues until yesterday morning around 8:00 when her body was seen in the river.

At this time, police have one suspect who is a Guatemalan national that was fishing in the area at the time but he is not being considered a prime suspect.
