By Aaron Humes: One of the three persons charged on Monday with handling stolen goods in the Middle Long Caye case has been implicated along with another person in a burglary in Belize City.
Raymond Garcia, 40, a bank Officer and resident of Belama Phase 3 area reported to police that between 7:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m., on January 11, 2016, he left his home properly secure and whilst at work, he got a call from his neighbour that his home had been burglarized and stolen was a number of items including, a Dell Laptop, a watch, an A/C adaptor, a Toshiba wall adaptor, a black power cord, a DVD Player and other items value $517.00.
Today, Jason Cortez, who was already charged in the sea pirating case on Monday, faced additional charges of handling stolen goods for the Garcia burglary. He pleaded not guilty to handling $517.00 worth of his items.
Also charged is 19 year old Tyrone King, construction worker and resident of the Belama Phase 3 area, for handling a pair of Jordan brand slippers valued at $135 and belonging to Garcia.
He was charged after police nabbed him with Garcia’s stolen slippers on January 11, 2016.
King was offered bail of $1,000 plus one surety of the same. Both men return to court on March 18.
