By BMG Staff: The Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina, this week, was honored with an environmental certification from Green Key Global, a certification body geared specifically toward the lodging industry. The Radisson was awarded the prestigious “3 Green Key” award.
The Green Key Eco rating program is a graded rating system for hotels, motels, and resorts, that acknowledges efforts to improve environmental and fiscal performance. “Their dedication to sustainability is a strong example to follow,” said Tony Pollard, managing director of Green Key Global.
Pollard added that the organization, which has been evaluating properties for environmental programs for the past 17 years, was delighted to offer the award to the Radisson.
The aim of the Green Key Program is to develop and manage an “eco-label” for leisure organizations. The program pursues four major goals: environmental education for sustainable development of the owner, the staff, the stakeholders (suppliers etc.) and the clients; reduction of the impacts of the facility; economical management as a reduction of consumption induces a reduction of costs; and marketing strategy with the promotion of the label and the facilities awarded.
The Radisson, known for its “Yes I can” motto has had several accreditations to its name over the years, and its social, community and environmental program standards far exceeds the national resort and hotel average. In 2002, the hotel was ranked among the best business travel hotels in Latin America by the readers of Latin Finance, a leading finance and investment magazine.
It was the 2014 winner of the President’s award, and in 2015 received several positive emanations from international rating sites such as Trip Advisor and Hotel Check.
