By BBN Staff : Gregory Viant Faull, an American national, was killed more than three years ago on November 13, 2012. For most of the weeks immediately following his death, Belize Police focused their attention on anti-virus computer pioneer John McAfee, who was Faull’s neighbour, fled the country after police named him a person of interest in the case.
Now comes news that according to the San Pedro Sun, an American and then-girlfriend of McAfee, Amy Herbert Emshwiller, has been detained for questioning by police in San Pedro on Wednesday, at the request of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
CIB and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) continue to work the case and have not issued further information on why Emshwiller is being held. She is currently at the Queen Street Police Station, Precinct 3, in Belize City.
McAfee was deported to the United States from Guatemala and has participated in a television series about his time here, as well as recently announcing a run for President of the United States. He and Emshwiller been sued by the family of Faull in a Florida court as author and agent of the killing.
McAfee denies involvement but has said he is willing to testify as long as it is not in Belize.
