By Aaron Humes: Last month, 20 year old Jason Cortez and 22 year old Bradwick Lino were separately charged with handling stolen goods in relation to the aggravated burglary on Middle Long Caye, where a docked catamaran was broken into.
Police have now directly linked the two young men to the crime and Cortez was read a charge of aggravated burglary this morning before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer.
Cortez, along with Lino, is formally accused of trespassing on the catamaran and relieving its passengers of cash, jewelry, electronic goods and other property.
The construction worker pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Cortez was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central prison untilMarch 18, 2016 which is also when Lino, who pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and is serving a three-month sentence, and Cortez’s mother, Florita Pineda, also reappear in court.
