By Aaron Humes: Families in the village of Trio, Toledo District, face potential expulsion after an unknown investor purchased the land which they occupy. It’s an unusual case and one the Government appears not to know much about.
Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega, formerly Minister of Natural Resources, did say that Government has had to intervene to buy land for villages.
But Vega says the Trio case may be difficult to sort out: Government-owned land can be more easily bought and sold than private land.
