By Chrisbert Garcia: Most of the time police officers are only featured in the news for allegations of brutality or for making arrests but a new strategy the Placencia Police are implementing, may change the public’s perception of law enforcement officers.
In an effort to build community relations on the peninsula, officers visited the home of two elderly men, visually impaired 67-year-old Martin Moreira and his brother, 69-year-old Paul Moreira, where along with members of the Seine Bight Village Council and students from St. Alphonsus Primary School, they did a cleanup of the yard and homes, as well as gifted the men a box of groceries.
Led by Inspector Dennis Miles, this campaign aims to make the police friendlier in the eyes of the community and Placencia Police plan to do other acts of kindness in the near future.
