By Aaron Humes: While they had the power to suspend him, members of the Football Federation of Belize FFB’s executive should have left president Ruperto Vicente to call the meeting that would determine his fate.
Representatives from Fifa and regional agency CONCACAF met for four hours yesterday evening with dissidents Cruz Gamez, Sergio Chuc and Marlon Kuylen in Belize City to discuss their many complaints about Vicente and his administration.
The visiting executives agree that the Federation’s statutes need to be revised but said there was little they could do to directly supervise the upcoming executive elections.
None of the disgruntled executives are decided on contesting the elections; Vicente intends to contest.
