By BBN Staff: Another Guatemalan national has been arrested by Belizean authorities for carrying an unlicensed firearm in Arenal Village, Cayo District yesterday evening after 6:00 when members of the police’s Special Patrol Unit were on foot patrol.
At around 6:40, officers approached a male person who they saw carrying a machete and a shotgun slung across his back. The 16 gauge shotgun with accompanying cartridge was confiscated and inspected and when he could not produce a license for the weapon, he was taken to the Benque Viejo Police sub-station.
There, police learned that he was 58-year-old Matir Madrid Chacon of Arenal Village, a Guatemalan national. Chacon is currently pending charges of “kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license.”
