By Dalila Ical: The Placencia police in collaboration with the Village Council, Fire Department, and members of the Belmopan Community Oriented Policing Program and village residents joined forces to clean up one of many abandoned lots popular for drug activity.
By the end of the initiative, the entire group cleared a two acre land south of Placencia Village.
The initiative, according to the officers is one of many that are being adopted by the Community Policing Unit of that Formation in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the officers and the community.
Community Policing Officer, Claudius Cardinez adds that the cleanup will contribute to a decrease in drug activity in the area making the village a lot safer.
