By Aaron Humes: Police last week announced the arrests of 22 year old Trevor McFoy, a evening division student of SJC Junior College, and a 17 year old high school student of Belize City in relation to an armed robbery at the River Valley Supplies Gas Station in Scotland Half-moon, Belize District that occurred at around1:30 in the afternoon of Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016.
The pair are jointly charged with robbery and McFoy by himself for keeping unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Businessman/Manager Benjamin Schrock and two patrons of the store, Myron Frost, and Herwin Theus were robbed of their belongings.
Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley was able to obtain bail for the minor despite his being accused of committing an offence with a firearm. He took advantage of a loophole on the information and complaint sheet by that did not specify usage of a firearm in the incident.
The court allowed an amendment but Magistrate Deborah Rogers set bail of 3 thousand dollars which has been met and so the minor is at home tonight, on curfew. He must be indoors by 6 p.m., each day and he cannot leave his home before 6:00 a.m., each day. He also must report to the police station three times for the week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week and he is not to be found out of his house in the night.
Bradley also announced in court that the pair are alleging bad beatings by the police in Rural Eastern Division while in custody. He said they alleged they had been peppersprayed and denied treatment or their medico-legal form.
The minor and McFoy return to court on May 30, 2016.
