By BBN Staff: A pair of police impersonators were arrested and charged yesterday morning when a real police mobile patrol noticed them acting suspiciously on Ebony Street in Belize City.
Just before 6:00 a.m., the men, identified to be 21-year-old Tyron Smith and 21-year-old Dorian Blair, were seen wearing police trousers with jackets covering their khaki shirts and boots on their feet but officers quickly noticed that something was wrong.
The patrol stopped and a search was conducted on the men, which resulted in the discovery of a .38 revolver containing six live rounds in the pants waist of Smith.
After questioning, it also became clear that the men were not real police officers. As a result, they were both arrested and charged for the offence of ‘false pretense of an officer’, while Smith was additionally charged for ‘kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license’.
