By Dalila Ical: Corozal police are closing in on the gunman who shot and killed 43-year-old Gilberto Sarcenio Najarro in Paraiso Village on Monday morning.
Authorities have detained two persons and are seeking a third for questioning in the incident.
Najarro was shot once to his back and head around 10:00 on Monday morning and all indications are that the motive was over a stolen bicycle.
Another person who was with Najarro had visited the Corozal police station requesting help after they had been shot at. Police responded and found the lifeless body of Najarro in the San Jomal Area in Paraiso Village.
They had been accused by a man and his son the day before of stealing a bicycle and were threatened. Police believe the son “made good on his threat”.
