Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: At its fourth annual ceremony at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize City, this morning twelve students from four districts were handed scholarships to continue their education at secondary and tertiary level. 
The Belize Bank Limited’s scholarship program pays for tuition and books for all four years of high school or two years of junior college, subject to academic and other conditions.
The Bank’s executive chairman, Lyndon Guiseppi, noted a unique feature of the program – the chance to be mentored by already successful bank employees.
They will be available as a shoulder to lean on for the young students during their roughest times.
The Bank supports 56 scholars, six of whom successfully completed their courses this year. It also partners with the Ministry of Education to promote financial literacy and will sponsor the upcoming visit of the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Orchestra to Belize. 
Deputy CEO in the Ministry Carol Babb reminded recipients that they must take advantage of their great gift by buckling down and studying hard, as they represent Belize’s future.
There are many dreams in this group. Gavin Dawson of Sandhill will study accounting at Edward P. Yorke High while Jamar Young starts his journey to becoming Belize’s greatest novelist at St. John’s College Junior College.
The Bank will induct another five recipients later this week.
