By BBN Staff: Three San Pedro men are facing serious penalties after being charged for the offenses of ‘drug trafficking’, two counts of ‘kept ammunition without a gun license’, ‘kept prohibited firearm’ and ‘kept firearm without a gun license’ yesterday.
Christian Espat, 20, of San Pedrito area; Rene Kumul, 19, of DFC area and Jose Guillen, 20, of Sea Grape Drive, were handed over to police by a neighborhood watch group, along with a knapsack containing 11 shotgun cartridges and three live rounds of 6.75 millimeter ammunition.
The group told police that they apprehended the men at a pier in the Mosquito Coast area, located approximately one mile south of San Pedro Town and they attempted to flee, leaving their boat behind.
Police officers then went to the area and conducted a search in the boat and surrounding area which led to the discovery of 2.2 pounds (978.8 grams) of cannabis, a 12 gauge pump action shotgun loaded with four cartridges and a black MP-40 nine-millimeter sub-machine gun with a retractable butt and two empty magazines.
