By Aaron Humes: At his press conference immediately following meetings in Washington with Guatemala and other elements, Prime Minister Dean Barrow extended the olive branch to the People’s United Party to re-join the diplomatic process which the Opposition complained they were shut out of recently.
While Government has refused to rescind the Public Safety Act (Sarstoon Regulations) statutory instrument as demanded by the PUP as one condition of their rejoining the diplomatic process, the party is sending out its emissaries.
Leader of the Opposition John Briceno said Senator Eamon Courtenay will head to London to research documents to be presented to Guatemala to strengthen the Belize case, while Lisa Shoman travels to an OAS summit in June.
Briceno maintained that this is a national issue and the PUP stands ready to do its part.
