Wednesday July 15th 2015. BMG: Management of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital have spoken to Cabinet about approving a wage increase for employees that would cost more than $2 million.
The hospital’s 579 workers are not classed as public officers; they officially work for the KHMH authority, a statutory body.
However, that body is not fully autonomous and independent because it accepts $10 million in annual funding from Government.
GOB recently gave public officers and teachers, including Ministry of Health staff and district hospital workers an 8% pay rise on top of a six per cent increase last year.
The workers are also speaking to the Public Service Union (PSU).
