By Aaron Humes: San Ignacio Police with the assistance of its K-9 Unit, conducted searches in two areas of Santa Elena Town yesterday morning, resulting in the discovery of cannabis and a shotgun.
At around 6:00 a.m., the team searched along the banks of the Macal River, where a knapsack containing 1429 grams (3.2 pounds) of cannabis was found.
An hour later, the team searched an abandoned lot in Hotpoint area, finding a red bucket which contained 2,141 grams (4.7 pounds) of cannabis and a Remington brand 12 gauge pump action shotgun.
All items were labelled and deposited as ‘found property’ since no one was in any of the immediate areas at the time of the searches.
