By Chrisbert Garcia: BoneVille Café, located on Front Street in Punta Gorda (PG) Town, on the third floor of the popular Sea Front Inn, is a unique eatery that in recent years, has held many programs for children during holidays, with the aim to give back to the community which has always supported it.
The operators of BoneVille are well known in PG for their annual summer programs and engaging youth in Bible related activities, but today, they tried something new that benefited deserving primary school children.
Students were selected from St. Peter Claver School to receive catered lunches and T-shirts from BoneVille’s ‘Rewrite your History’ clothing line, which were delivered during their lunchtime by members of the café’s staff.
Operators of BoneVille said that the children’s response was encouraging and it is their hope that they will be able to make this a frequent donation to students from various schools in PG.
Manager of the Café, Brian Lambey, said that he saw an opportunity to bless kids who may not have had food to eat for lunch otherwise, since he knows how hard it is to focus in class with an empty stomach.
He went on to say that BoneVille is all about helping the community and giving back, while working hand in hand with local entities to create constructive entertainment for young people.
One activity that will surely draw the attention of PG youth is BoneVille’s annual Beach Day, which promises to be bigger and better this year through a collaboration with the Department of Youth Services.
The event was a huge success last year and will feature street basketball, volleyball and water sport competitions, as well as boat rides and greasy pole among others.
