Thursday, July 16th, 2015. BMG: Belize’s Governor General Sir Colville Young is visiting Wilmington, North Carolina, U.S.A., for the annual summer conference of the Consortium for Belize Educational Cooperation (COBEC), being hosted by the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNC-W).
COBEC works towards higher education in Belize and also provides opportunities for students to study, research and teach abroad as part of its educational development effort.
The Governor General met with UNC-W Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli to strengthen the friendship between the University and Belize.
UNCW consistently sends students and faculty members to Belize for study, research and volunteer purposes, sending 106 students during the course of the past academic year.
These students travel the country volunteering in schools and providing health care services to Belizeans all across the nation, while enjoying our unmatched cultural diversity.
Belize is a prime destination for UNCW as only two other nations attract more students to study abroad.
