By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Around the country, Belizeans are anxiously awaiting the rains due to the prolonged heat, the fires and the crop devastation.
Chief Meteorologist Ronald Gordon outlined a promising shift in weather patterns highlighting an increase in moisture.
“We are seeing an increase in moisture coming in this weekend,” Gordon stated, noting the anticipated development of thunderstorms over the Maya Mountains.
Gordon says that the rains are coming gradually this weekend.
However, Gordon pointed out that human-induced activities could exacerbate the risk of wildfires.
“If human-induced activity continues,” Gordon cautioned, “there is a likelihood that we will have more fires.”
