By Horace Palacio: A police officer in Dangriga is under investigation after discharging his firearm at fellow officers while off-duty.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12th, at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the Wa-gusina Fast Food Shop in the Lakeland Area. Constable Harry Bo, 27, reportedly fired a single shot in the direction of two colleagues, Constables Christian Koyoc and Jerel Hendy, after a brief exchange of words. The bullet narrowly missed Constable Hendy’s foot, causing minor pain but no significant injury.
Constables Koyoc and Hendy immediately returned to the Dangriga Police Station to report the incident. The scene was processed by a SOC technician, and a single expended shell casing was recovered. Constable Bo’s service weapon, a 9mm Luger pistol, was retrieved and is being held as evidence.
While a request was made for a body fluid sample from Constable Bo, he refused. The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
