Corozal Bay Area Representative calls out opponent for “disrespect”

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Recently, the PUP opened applications for candidates wishing to contest positions for Standard Bearers.

However, following the application process, several applications were rejected.

But, in Corozal Bay, a different story emerges with daughter of Prime Minister John Briceño’s CEO, Narda Garcia, being given an opportunity to contest Area Representative Elvia Vega Samos.

Thea Garcia Ramirez launched her campaign and the Bay has since taken sides on who they want to represent them.

“The love I have for Corozal Bay gives me the impulse to keep going forward but the love from my family sustains me. All I do is due to the immense support that I get from them,” Vega Samos said.

Vega Samos’ daughter called out her opponent for “disrespect”.

“The DISRESPECT some arrogant persons have towards a SITTING REPRESENTATIVE is totally unacceptable! Everyone knows that the Garcias already hold various high-ranking positions and yet they still want more! The intimidation and threatening by the other candidate and her minions to the innocent people of Corozal just so she can win is out of order! They think everyone can be bought! Every single human being is entitled to their own choice and NO ONE should ever feel like they are above others! This is what Thea feels like. I want know weh type ah leadership she deliver,” a post said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Thea’s daughter also issued a statement saying that, “It’s disheartening to see someone defending their mom without knowing or understanding the full story. Using your children to fight your battles is unfair; children will naturally stand by their parents, but parents should protect them from such conflicts rather than use them as shields.”

Thea also said that, “Perhaps the greatest challenge lies in being kind to those who are unkind. It is helpful to remember that people can only pour out that which they hold within. Lashing and acting out is actually representative of inner turmoil and conflict.”

A date for the convention is yet to be set and several PUP Area Representatives have also expressed their support for one or the other of the candidates for the Bay.
