By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize’s weather profile continues to be dominated by Hurricane Beryl despite its landfall over northern Yucatan as it is still expected to support moist and unstable conditions over our area according to the National Meteorological Service.
Skies today will be sunny with cloudy spells today and cloudy at times tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be isolated this morning with a few more developing mostly oer inland areas this afternoon. Tonight, a few showers and thunderstorms will affect mainly the coast.
High temperatures peak at 88 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 93 degrees inland and 79 degrees in the hills. Tonight, temperatures fall to 78 degrees along the coast, 74 degrees inland and 67 degrees in the hills.
Winds are westerly to southwesterly at 15 to 25 knots, becoming easterly to southeasterly at five to 15 knots. Sea state begins moderate to rough, becoming choppy later.
An excessive rainfall watch remains in effect. There is a small chance that excessive rainfall could occur across the country, from outer feeder bands from hurricane Beryl. Residents should continue monitoring the weather situation and contact the Hydrology Unit at 822-0667 for any information on flooding or NEMO for advisories.
A small craft caution is in effect for occasionally gusty winds and rough seas, especially in heavy showers and thunderstorms, and in large swells beyond the barrier reef. Operators of small crafts should exercise caution.
Tides will be high at 8:58 this morning and 10:49 tonight and low at 4:38 this afternoon. The sun sets at 6:31 this evening and rises at 5:23 Saturday morning.
