By Horace Palacio: Residents and visitors to Belize should prepare for unsettled weather conditions over the next few days, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Sunny skies with scattered clouds will prevail throughout the day, but the National Meteorological Service predicts the development of showers and thunderstorms across the country. These isolated storms are more likely to occur during the afternoon and evening hours. Coastal areas can expect easterly winds blowing at 10-20 knots, leading to light chop on the water. Temperatures will range from a high of 88°F (31°C) on the coast to 93°F (34°C) inland.
While cloud cover will increase overnight, showers and thunderstorms will primarily affect southern and coastal regions.
Expect generally cloudy skies with showers and a few thunderstorms affecting most of the country. The intensity of these showers will gradually decrease throughout the day, but some activity may redevelop over the south on Sunday night.
Mariners should be aware of light chop to choppy sea states with waves ranging from 2 to 5 feet.
Currently, there is no threat of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico for the next 48 hours.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly if engaging in outdoor activities or traveling.
