National Amateur Interdistrict Championship: Terror Squad advance to Semifinals on 1-1 draw against Conquerors

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Conquerors managed to pull a 1-1 draw against crosstown rivals Terror Squad on Friday night at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro, but it wasn’t enough as Terror Squad FC advanced to the semifinals of the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship on a 5-1 aggregate score. Terror Squad had won the first leg 4-0 the previous weekend.

Brian Chavez opened the scoring, shaking the net in the eighth minute for Conquerors to lead 1-0.

Terror Squad weren’t as effective as the previous week but were still able to draw level in the 60^th minute courtesy of Kaeyden Shay Bowen. That was Bowen’s second goal in the series as he had scored along with Kenroy Wagner (2) and Angel Burke in the first leg.

Terror Squad will now face the winners of Belmopan’s Club Atletico and the Toledo Legends, who are playing on Saturday in Punta Gorda. Legends and Club Atletico, who drew 1-1 in Belmopan last weekend, will decide who advances when they clash at 6:00 pm at the Victor Sanchez Stadium.

The other two quarterfinal matches will be played on Sunday in Calcutta and Dangriga.

The Calcutta Bulls will be banking on the support of their fans to break the 2-2 deadlock against Orange Walk’s Mi Gente from Guinea Grass when they face off at 1:00 pm at the Calcutta Football Field in Calcutta, Corozal.

The final semifinalists will be decided in the 4:30 pm match at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga, where the EZ Conquerors will be seeking to overturn a negative 2-1 score against the visiting Napoles from Belmopan.

The winners of the Calcutta match will play the winners of the Dangriga duel in the semifinals.
