By Aaron Humes: The 2015 case of Windell Obando, Hamid Awe, and Saul Ortiz, all of San Ignacio Town, Cayo District, ended in guilty pleas for manslaughter this morning in Belmopan.
The trio were each ordered to pay $5,000 in compensation to the parents of the victim, Aurelio Montero Junior, by January of 2025 but were released on time served.
Montero was a member of the Belize Coast Guard who was beaten and robbed in downtown San Ignacio on Holy Saturday, April 4, 2015.
