By Aaron Humes: Media personality Ramon Vasquez has stepped back from being standard bearer for the United Democratic Party in Belize Rural South.
Vasquez, chairman and CEO of Belize Broadcasting Network (abbreviated BBN but not to be confused with Breaking Belize News), issued a statement saying he could no longer pursue politics out of caution to maintain the television station’s identity, neutrality and independence.
Vasquez is originally from Caye Caulker and according to the San Pedro Sun is little known in the much larger Ambergris Caye.
He was the third person to offer to run succeeding Manuel Heredia Jr. Jazelie Azueta was removed for being at odds with party leadership as was former Mayor Daniel Guerrero, who withdrew as a result of the recent internecine warfare in the Party.
