St. Ignatius High School pioneers first Introduction to Engineering and Introduction to Architecture programs in Belize, and One Link App cashless payment system

By Hugh O’Brien: On Monday, August 19, 2024, St. Ignatius High School marked a historic and pioneering achievement by launching its Introduction to Architecture and Introduction to Engineering programs, both at the secondary level. The innovative One Link APP was also launched and by having this APP available, parents and students can now make cashless payments to the school. The launch of these new educational programs and the One Link App cashless payment system are no doubt trailblazing initiatives at the High School level in Belize and highlights St. Ignatius’ dedication to advancing educational excellence and using cutting edge technology to strengthen parental engagement.

The launching ceremony had the participation of distinguished guests from various organizations, including the Association of Professional Engineers of Belize (APEB), the Association of Professional Architects of Belize (APAB), and the STEM U Foundation. Representatives from Mexican universities like Universidad Politécnica de Bacalar and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Quintana Roo. Industry leaders such as Midwest Steel, Belize Electricity Limited (BEL), and Belize Natural Energy (BNE), also honored the occasion with their presence.

Through this international collaboration, St. Ignatius High School aims to broaden its educational horizons and reinforce its mission to provide top-tier, quality education. The new programs in architecture and engineering have been carefully crafted to offer students a robust foundation in these dynamic fields. Under the mentorship of professional partners from APEB and APAB, students will engage in hands-on learning, educational field trips, and skills development, all of which are essential for their future careers.

At the launch of these new innovative programs, the enthusiasm of the management, faculty, staff, students, and parents of St. Ignatius High School was evident.
