By Breaking Belize News Staff: Taxi operators in San Ignacio and Santa Elena are gravely concerned following a recent decision by the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council to establish a maximum fee of $1 per day for taxi operators.
This is allegedly in addition to their $100 trade license fee.
Thus, taxi operators would be paying more than $400 annually to operate in the Twin Towns.
Several taxi operators told BBN that this is a newly implemented decision and there were no consultations done with them.
Therefore, they are considering increasing the fees for runs in town.
