By Aaron Humes: George Street resident 30 year old Ryan Barnett has been charged with murder 
following the death of 38 year old Anthony Gillett who was found shot to death on West Collet Canal on Friday night.
Gillett was found lying in a sofa with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the right side of the neck and one to the top of his head.
Barnett appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer.
No plea was taken and due to the nature of the offense, Barnett was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 16, 2016.
Police’s initial investigation revealed that Gillett was socializing along with Barnett at his house on West Collet Canal when a single shot was heard and Gillett was found injured.
Gillett’s body was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:24 a.m., almost two hours later.
