By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police Constable David Dave Gongora, 35, has been granted bail of $15,000 following his arraignment on three criminal charges: two counts of harm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Gongora’s bail application was heard on Thursday in the High Court before Justice Candace Nanton, with no objections raised by the Crown.
The charges stem from an incident on September 1, 2024, at the corner of King Street and Amara Avenue, where Gongora allegedly caused harm to Kersha Pelayo and Astry Burgos, and assaulted Elroy Casimiro with a firearm.
Conditions of Gongora’s bail include reporting to the Belmopan Police Station every Monday, refraining from contacting the victims or witnesses, and attending all court appearances. His next court date is scheduled for November 15, 2024.
