By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) through its Institute of Archaeology (IA) is hosting representatives from the Ministries of Culture and Environment from the South American nation of Peru.
Giovanna Bravo, Nino Del Solar and Vladimir Ramirez were warmly greeted by director Dr. Melissa Badillo and her capable IA team for the visit from September 22 to 28, 2024.
The week long plan of working sessions and site visits kicked off deep in the Chiquibul Forest at the majestic archaeological park of Caracol.
The focus of the trip is exchanging ideas on park and visitor management, tourism infrastructure and preservation of natural and cultural heritage.
After exchanging best practices an enhanced framework for a management plan for Belize’s Archaeological reserves will be developed.
