By Breaking Belize News Staff: Melbourne Wade Jr., a 30-year-old car dealer from Belize City, was brought to court on Thursday to face his sixth charge of vehicle theft. Wade, who has been in remand at the Belize Central Prison since multiple theft allegations surfaced against him, appeared before the Chief Magistrate on charges related to a white Ford Escape SUV rented from a city businessman and later pawned off to an individual in Cayo.
Wade was accused of renting the Ford Escape from Floyd Alexander Ford, a businessman, for $150 per day, then dishonestly appropriating the vehicle, valued at $17,000, in June 2024. Wade claimed in court that the victim no longer wanted to pursue charges and had already retrieved the vehicle. However, the police prosecutor objected to bail, citing Wade’s previous five theft allegations and his violation of earlier bail conditions. His bail had been revoked after he was charged with theft for other vehicles.
Wade’s previous charges include allegations of swindling individuals out of vehicles and money through online schemes, including over $6,000 from former Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya and $8,500 from Denfield Duncan, a bus conductor.
Wade remains in custody and is expected to face further legal proceedings as additional investigations continue.
