Saturday, July 18th, 2015. BMG: Former national campaign manager for the People’s United Party (PUP), Eamon Courtenay, has nixed suggestions of a return to the post.eamon courtney Former PUP national campaign manager declines return to post

Earlier this week Godfrey Smith exited the post by agreement with party leader Francis Fonseca while staying on as a personal advisor.

Fonseca’s allies sought Courtenay, whose experience would have been key to preparing the party for the next general election and securing the potential support of Lord Michael Ashcroft, but Courtenay told Channel 7 News via text message that the idea “will never fly” and is “DOA” (dead on arrival).

Courtenay left the post a few years ago and also resigned as Senator in the House of Representatives following noted differences with Fonseca’s leadership. He had acted as Minister of Foreign Affairs among other posts in the Said Musa government between 1998 and 2008.

The PUP has scheduled a meeting for next week Tuesday of the party’s elected representatives and standard bearers.
