By Aaron Humes: Orange Walk Town played host to the annual Taste of Belize competition at Muffles College Auditorium over the weekend.
In the Amateur Cook Competition, which featured a 90-minute competition to prepare a main dish, Kevin Chi of the San Ignacio Resort Hotel beat Belize Biltmore Plaza’s Gurick Orosco to top spot, with third place going to another Cayo chef, Lucelli Sam from Crave House of Flavors.
Maria del Carmen Urbina won the cake decorating competition, defeating Mayerah Polanco and Elisa Quetzal in that order. In the cupcake decorating competition Adrienne Young edged out Masahito Kumagae.
If you want a good drink, try Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, where Bartender of the Year Mark Jacobs works. 2nd place went to Ricael Moran from Happy Lobster Restaurant & Bar, Caye Caulker and third to Adrian Cowo of Belize City.
And finally the Master Chef of the Year is Eva Longsworth of Corozal, with the 2nd and third places going to San Pedro residents: Maresha Reid of Pirate’s Treasure Restaurant and Samuel Gonzalez of Rain Restaurant and Roof Top Terrace. Congratulations to all winners!
