By Dalila Ical: Orange Walk Police are still trying to find out why a teacher was killed in Orange Walk on Sunday morning.
Police report that officers were called out to Sylvester Street in Orange Walk Town around 5:00 that morning. There, officers found the lifeless body of a man in the football field.
The individual had a cut wound to the right side of his neck. He was later identified as Marcelo Azueta, a 39-year-old teacher from Orange Walk Town. Azueta’s body was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police also have a report from a witness who says that at about 3:00 that morning, they passed by the field and heard a loud cry before two men left the area on separate bicycles.
No arrests have been made and police are still trying to decipher a motive for the homicide.
