By Aaron Humes: Rumors flew hot and heavy beginning this morning that boss of the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU), Superintendent of Police Mark Flowers, was to be formally charged today for sexual assault offences in connection with a report by a 13 year old minor.
But as of news time, he has not been, despite confirmed intentions by police to do so.
Superintendent Flowers is accused of having molested the female minor and the minor is further believed to be pregnant.
BBN has confirmed with attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley that he is representing Superintendent Flowers. Bradley asked us this morning to, quote, “stay in touch” regarding a press conference with him and Superintendent Flowers, but there has been nothing further said.
Meanwhile, there is confusion about where Superintendent Flowers will be arraigned. Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams indicated that his office was handling the matter, however we were made to understand that the arraignment would take place in Belmopan, despite the complainant being from Belize City.
We will continue to follow this story, as we understand the press conference will take place tomorrow, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Flowers, who is on vacation, is expected to be replaced at his post by Inspector Glen Caliz.
