By Aaron Humes: Ruba’s bar, a popular bar and hang out spot in Lord’s Bank area, Ladyville is no stranger to violent crimes and on July 8, 2016, there was yet another incident where a man was stab during an altercation inside the bar.
28 year old Sylvester Coc, a Carpenter of Lord’s Bank was stabbed once to the lower left hand; Lord’s Bank resident, Shawn Cook 25 is charged in the incident with wounding and two counts of aggravated assault with a knife.
Cook pleaded not guilty and Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith set bail at 500 dollars including conditions to report to Ladyville police station on Mondays and not to trouble the virtual complainants.
Earlier this year, Steven Young, a Belize City man was charged for attempted murder of Brandon Stevens which had occur on Saturday, May 14 during an incident that broke out between he, Steven Young and his common-law wife in the bar and as a result, Brandon Stevens was stabbed after an altercation inside Ruba’s bar between the two men.
